In this post, I talk a lot about the setting, and how it affects the characters in the book. The setting of the Hungar Games I used in this post was before the games even started, where they were treated like royalty. This really shows the characters true personality because it is there last few nights before the fighting starts. They are eating their final meals, and being given as much advice as possible before it all actually starts. Both Katniss and Peeta show a lot of respect towards Haymitch who helped them prepare greatly for this whole journey. When Katniss and Peeta have their gaurenteed final moments togeteher, it shows how they really care for each other. The setting I explained played a huge role in how all the characters interacted. For example if they are in the area, they will show nothing towards each other, or if its the last day of training they will show all have and create a bond. In this post I also talked a lot about Katniss and Peeta's trust right before the games begin. Katniss thinks she and Peeta are super close and they will be an alliance togeteher during the games, but when it came to preparing for the games, Peeta decides he wants to train alone. This worries Katniss greatly because she is afraid he is planning something without her which could hurt her farther in the games.

My goals for the next trimester for reading is to find a book I can actually enjoy and get into. The book I am reading now is interesting, but the plot moves very slowly and can get boring at times. Since reading a book isn't something I would do for fun, it is important that I enjoy the book I am reading while understanding it. I also want to read more challenging books that make me think a little harder. I usually just pick books that are in a series so that I can continue reading about the same characters after if I liked the previous books. For my writing next trimester, I want to be able to include more literary devices such as all the personification, similies, and metaphores that we have been writing this trimester. With each device having a topic, it makes it easier to write, so hopefully they will be easier to apply. Also I want to include more imagrey. When I read imagrey, it makes it easier to understand what is going on around the person. This makes a story easier to read and relate to.

Predictions

I have read farther into The Hungar Games and they are starting to get closer to the end of the games being over. Unfortunately, Katniss's closest allie, Rue was trapped and killed. She did all she could to keep her alive but it was too late. With only six people left, Katniss realizes that she is kind of on her own now and anything could happen to her considering nobody has her back. These final six get called for a meeting for a new rule that the game makers wanted to add. The new rule is if there are two people from the same district left at the end, they both win. Katniss isn't so sure that this is going to be the case for her because Peeta has aliened with other districts.

I predict that within the next few chapters Katniss and Peeta will begin to work together again. Even if they pretend that they are in love, the audience might buy into it and they would get more sponsors. With both of them working together, they would have better chance winning the games. Also since there is another district with both players still alive, it will probably cause some rivalry between the two. It will be interesting to see Katniss without Rue for the rest of the games considering they were such a close alliance. If Katniss does end up finding Peeta, I think she will convince him to start helping her. I am wondering what decisions Katniss will make in these next few chapters because it can affect her situations later on in the book.

Characterization

Throughout the story, Katniss and Peeta haven't met again. Katniss wishes she could find him to make sure he is okay, but it was too dangerous for her to go out looking for him. Katniss begins to hear noices and looks down under where the tree she has been sleeping in and she sees Rue. Rue and Katniss agree to make an alliance and always help each other. The both obviously realize that there is a stronger alliance going on between districts one two and three and Peeta, but with Peeta rescuing Katniss the other day, they all may be after him. Rue decides that it would be a good idea to hurt such a strong alliance by making sure they don't have any food. The plan works so far and Katniss, Rue, and Peeta are still alive as the games move forward.

From reading this section of the book, I start to see what kind of a person Katniss really is. It was hard to see who her true personality was while the interviews were going on because it was hard to tell if she was told to act a certain way. I now know that Katniss is a good person for siding with Rue because they both have their strengths which will help them farther on in the games. I also know more about Peeta. During the interviews I thought that Peeta loved Katniss and liked being around her but now that the games have started, they've only ran into each other once and he chose not to stay with her. I predict that later on in the story Katniss and Peeta will form an alliance together when there are less people alive.

Katniss and Peeta Meet

The games have started a few days ago and they have started to get used to what it was going to be like. So far there has been many distactions that the people in charge of the games have created. For example there has been deadly gases and everyone had to go as far away from it as they could so they wouldn't die from being in contact with the gas. Katniss has strapped herself to a tree and she knows that her biggest competitiors are sleeping under the tree she is in. She gets this brilliant idea to cut down a wasps nest, so it would land on them and they would have to run, and maybe even injure a few on the way. These wasps were much more deadly than regular wasps. After that scene, two died while others ran towards the river to try and swarm them away. On the way to the river Katniss runs into Peeta and they seem to be a little angry at each other. Katniss is mad at him for not trying to find her and making an alliance with other people. Peeta seems mad at Katniss for Katniss being mad at him.

This is as far as iv'e read so far and I think that they will begin to stick together and support each other during the games. Katniss claims that Peeta saved her life from when she passed out from all the wasp stings. Peeta ended up catching her and she didn't get hurt. I think that Peeta will leave his other alliance for Katniss because they have been training together for awhile and they might as well play togeteher. This will proabably put a huge target on Peeta's back, but with Katniss being as skilled as they are, I think she will be able to save him. I predict in the next few chapters, there will be more bad things that happen that the game makers create to make it harder for all the players.
