Predictions

Last week I started reading The Hungar Games and so far I am just learning about some of the characters. I have only read the first chapters but they have a lot of action in them that makes me want to keep reading! For example the author always draws out suspense when the names are being drawn for the games, the author stretches out that moment as long as possible to make the book more suspenseful. So far I am learning about Katniss's relationship with Gail and how they are friend who enjoy being in the woods. After that everyone gets called to the meeting to see whose name will be pulled, and who will participate in the Hungar games. This book also shows many emotions of the characters because nobody wants to have their name drawn, so it makes the book even more interesting.

A prediction I have for reading the next chapter is once Prim name is called, I think someone else will volunteer themselves so that she won't have to go. It was already a surprise enough because her name was only entered once because she was only 12 years old. Katniss's name was entered about 20 times and others names were in there more. I believe it will be Katniss because she has an interest at hunting that could help her survive the Hungar games. From learning about Katniss in the first chapter, I could tell that she would do anything to make sure that Prim wouldn't get chosen. She made sure her name was only in there once when it could of been in more. I can't wait to see what will happen next.

The Hungar Games

A book I might choose to read is a book in The Hungar Games series. I have not started to read these books yet, but everybody seems to be talking about them and loving them. I may choose to read a book in this series because I saw the first movie and really liked it! I am very curious to see how much the book is like the movie also. However, I never read the book and now there is a new movie for the second book. I want to be able to compare the differences between the movies and the books to see which I like better.

I predict that the book will be like the movie, but there may be some kind of twist at the end. Everybody always tells me that the book is better than the movie, and I want to see for myself which I like better. If I like the first book, I will probably read the rest of the series because I would want to see what happens to the main characters. For people who have read this book, how was it compared to the movie? or Which version did you like better?

My Sister's Keeper

My Sister's Keeper
Over the summer I read My Sister's Keeper by Jodi Picoult and overall I thought it was a great book that always made me want to keep reading more. This book was about a young girl named Kate who was diagnosed with Leukemia at 2 years old. Her family does all they can to try and help her out during this hard time. Kate's sister, Anna, was a perfect donor for anything she would need such as bone marrow or blood transplants if her blood level was low. Kate's family spent most of their time in the hospital with her to keep her company considering she could never leave due to all the chemotherapy she had to go through. Throughout the book the doctors figure out that somebody from the family would need to give Kate a kidney because there was something wrong in one of hers and the doctors didnt want anything else to go wrong. Kate's parents suggest that they use Anna because she was most closely related to Kate. Anna did not like this idea at all. She wanted to do all she could to help her sister live, but the pain she knew she would have to go through a lot of pain, and she didn't want that for the rest of her life. Anna decides to sue her parents for any future medical work that needs to be done to keep Kate living. This creates a lot of tension between everyone in the family because they want the best for Kate and Sara, Kate's mom, did not like this decision at all. However the dad saw where Anna was coming from because  she would have to go through a lot of pain and she wouldn't be able to play hockey anymore with one kidney. You will have to read this book and see what the judges decide to do with Anna's case and see if Kate can survive Leukemia.

People who would like this book would be people who enjoy suspense, not knowing what is going to happen next. It seems like in every chapter there was some kind of twist or something that you weren't expecting to happen that happens which makes you want to keep reading. I would also give this book a 5 star rating because it has to do with real life situations that actually happen today which some families could relate to. They realize it can happen to anyone at anytime. The style of writing is each character has their own chapter of thoughts actions towards Kate. This made it easier to understand how each character interacted with Kate.
